Consisting of Oscar de Jong, Wim Plug and Mark Kneppers, Kraak & Smaak’s impressive performance and studio career have seen the trio consistently create refreshing records and outstanding DJ and live moments during global touring across Europe, the USA, Asia, China and Mexico.
Establishing themselves with a distinctively warm and uplifting sound across genres as disco, funk, electronic, indie, deep house, soul and even pop, Dutch crew Kraak & Smaak’s vibrancy is first introduced to the world via their debut album,’Boogie Angst’. With the buzz it creates their performances in The Netherlands quickly lead to invitations to play at Europe’s biggest festivals as well as crossing over to the U.S, highlighted by dates at SXSW, Coachella, and Miami’s WMC. 2008’s hit single ‘Squeeze Me’ secures an even bigger international audience, gaining the band significant media attention and see the trio take the stage at Glastonbury, Lowlands in the Netherlands, and Europe’s biggest festival, Sziget.
During a five-week live tour across the USA, Kraak & Smaak performs at Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show on ABC television as well as a month-long Australia tour and conducting remix duties for Jamiroquai, Moby, Aretha Franklin, Chromatics, Royksopp, Yuksek, Tensnake and Blank & Jones to name but a few, and career highlighting showstake place at Detroit Movement, Glastonburyand Serbia’s Exit Festival.
2023 marks Kraak & Smaak’s 20th Anniversary as a producer trio, a live band and as DJs, and is celebrated with the ’Twenty’ and the ’Twenty Remixes’ compilation albums. For the occasion, special ‘XL’ live shows are setup, leading to sold out shows in the Netherlands, Hungary and the UK.
Moving onto 2025 their current album ‘Velvet Seas’ features a fresh, new selection of up coming international vocalists such as PWNT (of Rio Kosta), Butter Bath, The Undercover Dream Lovers and Kainalu, yet of course also the Kraakers’ familiar (live) collaborators IVAR, Izo FitzRoy and Berenice van Leer.
