Worcestershire-born, New Zealand raised, LA-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ny Oh is an artist who works at the root of feeling, of consciousness, and of spirit.
Her voice catches you first, one that has the type of unchained beauty that both wraps you up in cotton-wool-comfort and inspires your greatest strength at the same time. Its quiet power has shouldered numerous musical projects from Ny Oh’s own solo music, to fronting jazz-psychedelic outfit Neon Gru, to carrying backing vocals on Harry Styles’s recent stadium tour. Delving deeper into Ny Oh’s solo output, though, is where the charm lies – tales of love, loss, quests for spirit, freedom, and acting for the voiceless around her are woven with captivating, folk-jazz melody lines that evoke the golden songwriter era of the likes of Mitchell, Cash and Simon, and that has found champions in the likes of Jonathan Wilson, Sam Garrett and dedicated fans across continents.
Ny Oh released the acclaimed EP “Ny Oh’s Garden of Eden” in March 2022 which has since been supported by BBC Radio 1, 1News, NZMusician, BBC 6Music, Spotify’s Fresh Finds, Apple New Music Daily (NZ/AUS), Double J and more. Charting Ny Oh’s journey of finding herself and being herself, the project flows through her own journey of growth, un-learning, re-learning and listening – in what she feels is the “best way to live for each other, ourselves and the land”.
